The Calm

I'm hoping that August brings a sense of calm.

Since the weekend before Memorial Day I have had plans every weekend which included; a cook off, weekend at the lake, town festival, bridal shower and boat races, wedding, Vegas (part fun/part work), lake, wedding, shower/bachelorette party, shower/bachelorette party, wedding.

11 weekends.

11 weekends with plans.

This weekend I get to leave for a work trip at 6 a.m. Sunday which means a 3 a.m. wake up call.

But the weekend after that?

For the first time since May?

All mine! And I am getting a facial and an hour long massage.

The only things on the agenda for the rest of the month are attending the State Fair, duck races and overhauling my bedroom and guest room in anticipation of 2 sets of visitors later this month.

If your guest room currently looked like Rainbow Brite threw up everywhere wouldn't you want to redo it?

I can't make this up. I swear what you see is a 2 hot pink walls, a partially orange wall and 2 yellow walls with maroon shades.

Yes, in one room.

And of my 6 bedrooms, it is not the worst...

More to come on that one someday.

But it has good bones. Beautiful hardwoods and I am going to build the room around my beloved cowhide rug.

Some inspiration ideas below.

Day 4: Pros and Cons

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed today. But wouldn't you if this was the current state of your desk?

I mean....even my lamp shades look drunk.

But, working from home does have its advantages...Just look at my breakfast.

Who doesn't love a ham, egg, spinach and cheese strata for breakfast?

But those counter tops? Ugh. Got to go. Soon.

Ski Trip

Part of the 2011 vision included a ski trip and this past weekend I did just that.

There were tumbles.

Wipe outs.

Crashes.

But for someone who hadn't skied in 15+ years and who had NEVER skied in the mountains. I did pretty darn good.

I never conquered the blacks but I held my own on the blues.

And I perfected the art of falling and having multiple cute snowboarding boys stop to help me up.

All in all it was a vacation success.

Note: the difference in the two pictures is best explained in the change of weather. The first day was ideal. High 30's, sunshine and no wind. The second day was overcast, heavy snowfall and winds.

And Then...

And then...

I fell off the face of the earth.

I fully intend to complete my #reverb10 posts. But since the move I've been preoccupied with this little project.

Remember when I mentioned that the vision board included a kitchen remodel?

I started with this:

In the middle it looked like this:

And this is where it stands today.

So, what's left?

I need to flip the doors and do two coats on the opposite side and then the painting will be done...except, I'm not loving the green I picked out. Ugh. I might be repainting soon.

Sunday my new stainless steel appliances will be delivered, my flooring arrives on Monday and hopefully the new hardware for the cabinets will arrive later in the week. But hopefully, by January 1st I have my kitchen.

Focus

I've been trying to write this for a few days now. I've been trying since I realized I was near my 300th post.

I wanted it to be profound. I wanted it to mean something.

I hated when I wrote my 200th post that I felt like I hadn't progressed any further than the day I started this blog, this journey forward. I was still the divorced girl living in the house that I owned with MX who wanted to be somewhere else.

But now...Now, I have made a lot of changes.

I've made a lot progress this year.

I set goals. I created a vision.

I've accomplished almost all goals that I set; I read 25 books, I ran 3 5ks, I moved, I took a vacation.

The vision board is another series of check marks. I got rid of the house with MX, I've found a house here I am probably going to purchase, I've gotten back to riding horses, bought a treadmill, I found a new job and got a raise, I've been on vacation and I am finally getting back to the body that makes me happy.

So I am here to tell you that you can have everything you want as long as you put your mind to it.

Focus.

Be determined.

Goodbye

I said goodbye and I didn't cry.

Instead I laughed and smiled and laughed again until it hurt. Fun is an understatement for the evening.

But most importantly I said goodbye.

I said goodbye to the fabulous friends I made in the last 17 years.

And said hello to my future.

Back home.

Moving Forward

I've been feeling stuck. Frustrated. But I want to move forward. I want to go forward. I know that I am the only one who can make myself move forward. I know that I am the only one with control over my life...therefore I am moving forward with things I want to do.

First of all, I agreed on the next 5k I will run. On June 5th I will make my goal time.

That will be the second 5k of 2010 and I will potentially run the 3rd the following weekend. It would be amazing to have one goal for 2010 off the list in June!

Another sign of moving forward...today I made a large purchase. I bought a Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop. My home computer is 8 years old...a dinosaur really. But its also motivation. Motivation to start that small business idea I have had.

Wish me luck...I am off!

Theme

I think I should have a theme in 2010.

I have tossed around a lot of ideas. Mostly in my head because I subject you to my verbal diarrhea way too often.

The final verdict?

While I was tempted to steal "My Life. My Terms. My 2010." from a friend I realized you just can't steal someone elses theme.

So my theme...

No more complications in 2010.

Its not catchy. Its not hip. (Does anyone say hip these days?)

Its just the truth.

Everything has been so complicated. Whether it was the divorce, the house (an ongoing battle), a romance that was but wasn't, the moving process - I am just going to try and accept that what will be, will be.

I will stay focused on the vision. But I will do my best to remove myself from complicated and unnecessary situations.

Theme Song

AMS asked last night if I had a theme song right now...

I think it is this little ditty from Lady A.

Glamour

Glamour is one of my favorite magazines.

It tends to have good information on beauty, fashion and relationships.

This month they have a variety of covers available (3 covers per magazine and 3 variations or 9 total covers). I received the Amanda Seyfried (Big Love, Mama Mia, Dear John) cover in the silver dress.

When you flip in you see samples of the other covers.

That is when I stopped.

Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek).

She is quoted as saying - "I want to have more sex, travel more, drink more wine and love life."

Well substitute beer for wine and we may have the same 2010 mantra Ms. Saldana.

Working Towards a Vision

Today I accomplished a piece of my 2010 vision.

I am the proud new owner of the Sole F63 treadmill!

I am so excited about my purchase. I work in sales and we wrapped a fabulous quarter and this is what I am putting a part of my bonus towards.

I cannot wait to have this treadmill in my home. It means no more excuses. It means I can work out whenever I want.

It means I can work for the body I want.

It means I can run 3 5ks this year.

It means I can accomplish my vision.
